IT with a side of dank pizza
Dank Pizza is a pizza pop-up operating outside of Twin Peaks roastery on Saturday mornings. The pop-up is operated by husband and wife team Kim and Jonny as a side hustle. Jonny previously managed his family's Vietnamese restaurant - Mama Tran and currently works in the IT space.
"Breakfast friendly" Neapolitan style pizzas are served up - each with a slightly Asian twist. Portable Roccbox pizza ovens are used to cook the pizzas.
We ordered four of their pizzas. Our favourites were the Trufflin', Angry Aunty and Lambo.
We loved the spring onion and umami combo of mushrooms and truffle oil in the Trufflin'.
The Angry Aunty was like an Asian-fusion themed pizza - using ingredients more commonly associated with Chinese cooking, such as the Lao Gan Ma, spring onion and coriander. The result - a unique Chinese-Italian pizza.
The Lambo had a lovely fatty taste from the lamb sauage.

SHADOW WINE BAR
π214 William St, Perth WA
Revisiting the shadows
Chances are you've probably walked past Northbridge's Shadow Wine Bar. This unassuming wine bar has been hidden away in plain sight for many years, and is attached to the Alex Hotel - an independent boutique hotel.
We originally intended to visit Shadow Wine Bar just for dessert to try their limited edition Chico x Shadow Tiramisu Ice Cream Sandwich (late November 2021) , but we couldn't help having a second "dinner" π
.
We started with the Veal Carpaccio.
The heirloom tomatoes tasted divine when combined with the creamy stracciatella.
The double fried Crispy Potatoes were fluffy and we loved the romesco sauce.
The Pear Tart Tatin had deliciously buttery pastry.

INDIGO OSCAR
π 99 Marine Parade, Cottesloe (within Indiana Teahouse)
Tearoom turned tropical dining room and bar
Indigo Oscar is a Latin American dining room and bar, located in the Indiana Teahouse - the iconic heritage site located in the middle of Cottesloe beach. Interiors are vibrant with pastel hues of blue and pink while the dining room is met with beautiful panoramic ocean views.
Tom Harper, ex-head chef of Besk leads the kitchen at Indigo Oscar, so we knew we were going to have a good time.
We started off with the Shark Bay Crab Arepas. The crab was deliciously creamy and it reminded us of Le Rebelle's famed Crab Toast. We could've easily inhaled many of these!
The bar was set high after the arepas. Being a Latin American restaurant, and having worked at a famous Peruvian Japanese restaurant, we had to order the Rottnest Island Swordfish and the Spencer Gulf Kingfish Ceviche.
The Rottnest Island Swordfish was our favourite dish. Flavours were bright, zesty and spicy. The swordfish was nicely complemented by the Leche de Tigre (tiger's milk), which had lots of depth with the sauce tasting fatty and delicious from the ginger and macadamia milk.
Kingfish has become a staple ingredient and menu item for wine bars and alike. We enjoyed the refreshing nature and tart of the Spencer Gulf Kingfish Ceviche and welcomed the chilled rockmelon pieces.
The meat and potatoes of the show were (literally and figuratively) the Half Roast Mount Barker Chicken and Crispy Fried Potato. The chicken was juicy, soft and perfectly marinated and we loved the aji verde and chimichurri. It reminded us of Wild Hop's Free Range BBQ Rotisserie Chicken which also comes with salsa verde and lemon.
Our choice of carbs were the Crispy Fried Potato which were delightfully crispy and reminded a little of Nando's chippies with peri peri salt (a guilty pleasure π).

BIBRA LAKE LUNCH BAR
π 1/40 Port Pirie St, Bibra Lake WA 6163
Cult Status
Bibra Lake Lunch Bar needs no introduction. Having amassed a cult like following, this unassuming lunch bar serves up some of Perth's finest banh mi and other delights and Vietnamese eats (note lunch bars and bakeries are very much synonymous with Vietnamese).
All of the dozen or so banh mi are priced at $9. Hungrier folks can opt for extra meat ($2.5 or double meat for $5) or egg for $1. My (Eddy) favourite was the Traditional Banh Mi Thit as it evoked nostalgia memories of eating BMT as an after school snack growing up. All banh mi were generously packed with choice of filling and well garnished.
Though we didn't photograph it, Bibra Lake Lunch Bar also serve up delicious chicken tenders known as Chinh's Fried Chicken at $3 a pop (or $2.5 if you order two or more).
