Ate It & Rate It | JUNE 22
Dinner and dessert in Northbridge, Macedonian food and meals at the Japanese equivalent of IKEA.
Ate It & Rate It is our curated guide of monthly favourites - enough for you discover and try a handful of new eateries every month.
In this edition, we cover dinner and dessert in Northbridge, a hidden gem in Osbourne Park and Japan's equivalent to IKEA food.
Our favourites from June 2022 are:
Marubang BBQ
Dessert Garden - Aiyu Jelly
Chich Small Bar
Muji Cafe (Singapore)
Happy reading and eating! 🥰
Marubang BBQ (Northbridge)
Winter weather means KBBQ time!
Now that we're in peak winter, it's a great time to warm up with Korean BBQ. Our go-to place is Marubang in Northbridge. Be sure to try their bossam too!

Dessert Garden (Northbridge)
From hot to cold and refreshing to filling
After you finish KBBQ at Marubang, walk across the road to Dessert Garden. You'll find a selection of Taiwanese and Asian desserts and drinks served both hot and cold which also range from refreshing to filling.
For something light and refreshing, we love their lemon aiyu jelly, and for something heavier and shareable, we get their pearl milk tea snowflake.

Chich Small Bar (Osbourne Park)
Cosy in Osbourne Park
It was our first time trying Macedonian food last month, and definitely not the last. Family run CHICH Small Bar in Osbourne Park serve up decades old Macedonian recipes, European style burgers and even a selection of Macedonian alcohol. All of which can be enjoyed in a cosy fit-out which has mostly been hand built by the family and their friends!

Muji Cafe
Minimalist Muji
IKEA, Costco, Muji have one thing in common. They all have a cult-like following for their food. IKEA have their meatballs, Costco has their hotdog and chicken and Muji, has Muji Cafe (Café&Meal).
For the uninitiated, Muji* is Japan's answer to IKEA. Think well made and thought out, minimalist Japanese homeware (between the two of us, we probably own around two or three dozen things from Muji).
Every time we're in Japan or Singapore, we try to visit Muji Cafe as we're suckers for set meals and variety. As far as the menu goes, Muji Cafe serves a range of Western and Asian inspired dishes.
*In Japanese, muji is short for "mujirushi shohin" 無印良品 which means no-brand goods)
16 grain rice
Golden sesame crusted salmon
Ratatouille au gratin
Peach and apple salad
Prawn couscous salad with yuzu-sesame dressing
Miso soup
At time of writing, Japanese borders are still closed, so the closest Muji cafe for us is in Singapore.
We briefly cover Muji Cafe in the last instalment of our Food and Beyond Singapore series.
