The details πŸ“

Two drink coasters with "Besk" branding on it

Besk is a bar, kitchen and bottleshop that offers a rotating and curated selection of beers, wines and spirits and seasonal menus. The establishment is named after an old Danish term "besk". The term not only describes a flavour profile, but also highlights their commitment towards ingredients and community experiences which are free of pretentiousness.

Step into Besk, and you'll find a large bar space and a small dining area flanked by their bottleshop.

Besks bottleshop offers a range of ever changing beers, wines and spirits. You can opt to buy a bottle for drink-in or takeaway.

Besk's food menu changes with the seasons. Our last visit was in June 2022.

Top down shot of sirloin steak with chimichuri, potato and roasted cabbage
πŸ₯© Char-grilled Dandaragan organic 250g sirloin, potato cake, smoked cabbage, chimichuri (gf df* nf) $38 (June 2022)

After a handful of visits to Besk, our favourite always is their steak. It does vary depending what's in season. We particularly loved the sear, potato cake and the roasted cabbage (who knew roasted cabbage would be so delicious).

Top down shot of gnnocci
🍝 Pan roasted gnocchi, blistered vine tomatoes, local mushrooms, brown butter, sage, basil, pangrattato, pecorino (nf) $30

Besks pan roasted gnocchi is light, fluffy and offers lots of textural variation. We didn't like the gnocchi as much as we felt there were a bit too many elements going on for us.

Close up of hand holding a plate with two prawn rolls
🍀 Prawn rolls (2), Everyday Bread toasted brioche (nf) $18

We always order prawn rolls or croquette if we see them. They both whetted our appetites.

Top down shot of fried croquette
πŸ§€ Pickled onion & smoked gouda croquettes (3), miso mayo (v, nf) $12

Regarding the croquettes, we did find the addition of miso mayo a little overpowering, given the croquettes were already creamy from the gouda croquettes. Perhaps a less creamy condiment would pair better.

Fried chicken served in a lettuce cup with peanut sauce
πŸ— Bang bang fried chicken, peanut, cucumber, β€œcrispy seaweed”, little gem (3 pcs) (df* nf*) $21

Their bang bang fried chicken have a permanent place on Besk's menu. Chunky and juicy pieces of chicken!
