We visit Fremantle a couple times a year. When we do, Fluffy Lamb is one of the places we visit, without fail.
Fluffy Lamb is an unassuming stall in the Fremantle Markets that serves up Indonesian charcoal BBQ (open Friday to Sunday). Chef-owner, Tony Darwinto, also known as "Fluffy" has operated the stall for over 4 years.
It took us many years too many to discover Fluffy Lamb. We made our first visit in early 2011. Fluffy's incredibly warm and friendly hospitality made us feel like we were eating at the home of a good friend. The humble nature of the stall and Fluffy himself shouldn't be looked past though. Since Fluffy Lamb's inception in 2018, Fluffy's earned a number of awesome accolades such as:
- Featuring as one of the top 10 Indonesian restaurants in the world to feature Indonesia Tourism's "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign
- Earning earning spot 69 in the West Australian Good Food Guide last year
- Ranking in our Top Eats of 2021!
The go-to dish to order is the bone marrow rice with charcoal grilled lamb. The rice itself has a slight sweetness from the lemongrass with a hint of spice. Those who aren't fans of gamey meat like lamb can opt for the bone marrow rice with chicken satay.
The bone marrow rice dishes do sell out, so best get in early.
Nine times out of ten, we usually get in just after Tony's sold out of bone marrow rice 😅. Our backup order is the charcoal grilled lamb with rice. This has the same deliciously charred and tender lamb but is served with white rice instead.
Serves of chicken satay are also available.
In-front of the stall is a small communal table with sambal and satay sauce. We don't dare to try the sambal sauce (fearing for spice), but we loved his satay sauce. Guests can help themselves to additional satay sauce and white rice refills are available on request.

Anything else I should know before visiting?
There can be a wait of up to 20 minutes during peak times (e.g. lunch time). Limited seating is available in-front of the stall but there is plenty of room outside to stand and eat (additional tables can be found by the Henderson St entrance)

Multi-story paid parking is available at Kings Square Car Park which is a short walk from the Fremantle Markets.
A number of carparks are available around the Fremantle oval, all of which are within walking distance.
