The details πŸ“

Kane Mochi is a dessert brand which originated from Bangkok in 2008. Since then, Kane Mochi* has expanded throughout Asia and the Middle East. There are 3 branches in Singapore located at Bugis+, Jewel Changi and VivoCity.

*Kane mochi is a Japanese word meaning Β "rich person".

In Australia, mochi ice-cream is usually limited to Japanese restaurants and is usually something we eat maybe a handful times a year at most. Being big fans of Japanese food, and being swayed by the cute branding, we knew we had to pick up some mochi after dinner, as dessert.

For the uninitiated, mochi is a Japanese rice cake made from short-grain rice which is pounded and moulded into shape. The chewy like nature of mochi does unfortunately mean mochi are a suffocation hazard - particularly among elderly people. A popular variation of mochi is mochi ice-cream - which as the name implies, is when ice-cream is wrapped inside mochi covering.

🍑 Box of 6 SGD $12.9 - strawberry, peach, yoghurt, milk, chocolate, mocha chip

We ordered a box of 6 mochi between the two of us. It might not seem like much on first glance, but it was frankly a little too much for the two of us! Each mochi is cut into quarters and makes it great for sharing. The box of 6 we ordered could comfortably feed 2 to 3 people.

The mochi exterior is soft and silky, while the ice cream inside was creamy and smooth. Our favourite flavours were the chocolate, milk, and strawberry flavoured mochi. We'd suggest waiting a couple minutes and letting the mochi thaw a little so it's not entirely frozen. This is something Kane Mochi also recommends if you're getting the mochi for takeaway.

Kane Mochi features 19 flavours and is inclusive - being halal, vegetarian-friendly, gluten free and are made without preservatives. It's definitely a must-try if you’re in search of a lighter dessert option at Jewel Changi or in Singapore!
