Food aside - one of the best parts of Onomichi Ramen Mitsuya are their trading hours. They're open until 11 pm, making it perfect for late night ramen runs.

Their Mitsuya original ramen is one of my favourite bowls of ramen I've had in a long time.

Onomichi style ramen is a type of shoyu (soy) ramen with a fish based dashi (bonito, as owner of Ginza Nana Alley, Daisuke tells us). It gives each bowl of ramen a light and and umami rich taste.

Pockets of fatty meat gives "heaviness" to the otherwise light slightly salty broth. At $19 a bowl, this is a steal as well - given it comes with an egg as well.

Gyoza $8

Gyoza filling was juicy, skin crisp and size wise, on the larger side.

Fried rice $12

Ramen aside, their chahan (fried rice) was great. It hit the spot. It had good "wok hei" (no better word to describe it). It did taste a little bland after having the ramen - but that could be a result of my taste buds being out of calibration after having a saltier broth.
