The details 📝
Pietro Gelateria are one of our favourite gelaterias in Perth. What keeps us returning is their on-going experimentation and ever changing flavours. Expect around four to six different flavours being released each month.
Be sure to follow their socials to keep up to date with their flavours. Riccota, orange and dark chocolate, coffee and salted caramel and dark chocolate are some of our favourite flavours to get.
East Victoria Park
The first Pietro Gelateria store opened in May 2017 and is our go-to branch. Plenty of free parking is available outside the shopping centre. It's also conveniently located next to T4 and Tien Tien Yoghurt, if other options for "sweets" are desired.
Around half a dozen tables are available inside. A number of communal benches can be found inside.
Inglewood
In early 2022, Pietro Gelateria opened up thier second branch in Inglewood. This store features a much more generous seating area (both inside and outside). It remains accessible with plentiful parking available outside.
Northbridge
In early August 2023, Pietro Gelateria opened their Northbridge branch - Pietro Laboratorio. Gladys and the Pietro Laboratorio team were kind enough to invite us to the launch, where we had the opportunity to try all their flavours, tarufo and their cakes.
Perhaps one of the coolest things in the new store is the addition of a Vestaboard, which is used to display exclusive lab specials. These are a cool, smart display with retro vibes - reminiscent of the old school analog flap displays you find at some airports. They also command a fairly pretty penny (you could get 854 scoops of Pietro's finest gelato* for the cost of one of these).
*At time of writing
We loved the small details throughout the store.
Pietro Laboratorio follows a similar, minimalistic design to their other two stores. The biggest difference with this store is the white walls, as opposed to the nice and lucious, dark green walls. In a previous life, 3/323 William St served as Kumo's first pop-up location.
The first course of the night was their lab specials - a scoop of macadamia brittle and a scoop of the blood orange, campari and pistachio. Texturally, the macadamia brittle reminded us of candied nuts. Our favourite of the two was the blood orange. We think this would make for an excellent, refreshing, summertime sorbet.
Up next, a slice of their gelato cake. Having frequented gelato since 2017, it was our first time trying their gelato cake. The raspberry cake gets the "not too sweet" superlative (we'd get it again).
It was also our first time trying their tartufo - a chocolate covered gelato dessert. We vibed most with the hojocha black sesame.
We ended the night with some of Pietro Gelateria's gelato sandwiches which we have yet to eat (at time of writing).
