The details π
The concept of Maison Saint Honore* was conceived in 2010 by Alexandre, focusing on French pastries and delicacies. Since then, Maison has expanded all over Perth with different concepts and locations, from Swan Valley, to Floreat, to Ellenbrook. Praline in Mt Pleasant is the latest addition to their line-up.
*Fun fact: Saint Honore is a French patron saint for bakers and pastry chefs.
Walking into Praline feels like walking into a little Parisian cafe - from hurried conversations in French from the staff, to the rich smells of butter-rich pastry baking in the oven and freshly brewed coffee.
We don't often eat crepes, but when in a French cafe, the order choice was pretty obvious. Around half a dozen savoury crepe variations are available. For those who prefer sweet crepes, four variations are available. You can even watch the staff make the crepes behind the glass panel within the cafe.
Our crepe of choice was the complete crepe breakfast. The addition of the chorizo made the crepe more filling than expected. The relish on the side was a welcome addition as a refreshing condiment.
In addition to the crepe, we shared the French croque monsier - essentially a French ham and cheese toastie. Pralineβs Croque Monsieur was thickly cut with generous with layers of ham and molten bechamel sauce.
Though Praline are arguably best known for their macarons, not being huge macaron people, we chose a number of their pastries from their cabinet instead. Classics like their chocolate croissant are flakey and buttery as French pastries should be - a result from many hours of laminating and baking.
The gold bar pleased our eyes and taste buds. The praline had a nice chew and was decadently rich.
Praline's French pastries are available for order via their online store, with free delivery for orders over $100.
