β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Bibra Lake Lunch Bar

Runny fried egg banh mi $12

The best thing we ate this week was banh mi from Bibra Lake Lunch Bar. When it comes to banh mi, both Bibra Lake Lunch Bar and DJ's Willagee are on constant rotation for us.

This visit, I ordered two banh mi - the runny fried egg and the pulled chuck beef and beef dip banh mi. Of the two, my favourite was the runny fried egg. A simple and relatively "light" banh mi which would also make for an excellent breakfast option. The only thing I'd change is add a couple dashes of Maggi soy sauce on-top of the eggs (soy sauce + fried egg = G.O.A.T. combo).

Bibra Lake Lunch Bar does get pretty busy, especially on weekends. Expect to wait anywhere from 25-30 mins during peak periods (we had a 30 minute ish wait after ordering around 1 pm or so). Luckily, it's located around a fruit and veg grocer and European Smallgoods Butcher - where we picked up some weisswurst that ended up being Sunday night dinner.

Pulled chuck beef banh mi $12 + beef dip $5

The pulled chuck beef banh mi was a little heavier and the beef dip paired well with it. The beef dip closely resembles bo kho, a Vietnamese beef stew. For me, this banh mi is not something I'd re-order, but having said that, I'm glad I tried it.

Traditional banh mi thit $12

Paige opted for the traditional banh mi thit (the Vietnamese equivalent to a conti roll) which satisfied her banh mi cravings.

What We Ate 🍴

Chicken on Charcoal Flame

Top down shot of plate with Lebanese bread, rice, garlic sauce, hummus, salad, kofta and skewers
Mixed platter $30 - spicy beef, lamb, chicken, prawns, cooked over charcoal & served with rice $30

We returned, once again, to Chicken on Charcoal Flame for a low key dinner. The mixed platter was as good as it usually is, so no complaints at all.

This probably marks our 4th or 5th time here, so we can confidently say they consistently charcoal grill everything to perfection.

We dined in with a couple friends who seemed to enjoy their kebabs there too!
