ββThe Best Thing We Ate βοΈ
Mr. King Beef Noodles
The best thing we had last week was Mr. King's signature LanZhou beef noodles. We enjoyed this more than Qin's Lanzhou Beef Noodle. Paige will post more about this later, but the TL;DR reasoning - the "clearer" tasting broth here is what makes the bowl of LanZhou noodles more appealing for us. Whereas Qin's interpretation of Lanzhou beef noodles has a more oily broth.
In addition, we do prefer the interior fit out here a little bit more - especially the light, airy feel and diffused lighting. All making for a nicer dining experience for our preference.
What We Ate π΄
Cassia
The kind folks at The Wonder Co invited us to check out Cassia last Wednesday. The venue is beautiful!
We've got ourselves booked in for Cassia on Friday night - so by the time you read this, we would've dined in again. Which reminds me, I better get onto writing the post on last week's media night π«‘.
The favourites on the media night were the beef tartare and stone axe wagyu.
Phoever
Once again, ranking high on the "deliciousness to closeness" scale is Phoever. Usually I go for the roast pork banh mi as you can never go wrong. But this time I also tried the grilled pork banh mi - which is a great option if someone is after something "lighter".
Banh mi at Phoever is around the $9 - $10 mark (except the $12 soft shell crab) and for that price, you get a generous amount of protein in each serve.
Nobu Perth
If you tuned in last week, you would know that we went to a wedding over the weekend at Crown. Shoutout to my cousin Alisha - reader of the blog, who got married!
We may or may not have ducked out to have a couple sneaky treats at Nobu, during the wedding π (don't worry, Alisha approved!).
A dish we always get when we dine in is the smoked octopus with spicy miso. Tender octopus with a spicy-ish sauce.
One of our all-time favourite dishes on the Nobu Perth menu is the wagyu carpaccio. This dish was created by previous head chef, Chef Leif who now runs Mica Creamery with his wife.
Each serve comes with three pieces, making each piece around $14 a pop. But is well worth it - we can guarantee that there probably aren't many restaurants at all doing anything like this in Perth. Also, given how rich each piece is - you probably can make do with just one piece anyway. A must order!
