WEEKLY DIGEST 120 | 23 AUG 2024
Fresh sashimi.
Last week we ate at a somewhat eclectic range places. This week, we don't have much planned, as we'll be spending time eating at friends' houses rather than eating out. Two meals will still involve eating out, so let's see where we end up eating at.
Last week we checked out:
Seafresh Myaree
Chicken on Charcoal Flame
The Cheese Store
Costco
YoMoo
Shot on Sony a7iii (Seafresh Myaree, The Cheese Store and YoMoo) with Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and Ricoh GR IIIx (Chicken on Charcoal Flame and Costco ). Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic.

ββThe Best Thing We Ate βοΈ
Seafresh Myaree
The best thing we ate all week was Seafresh Myaree's sashimi.
We held a sashimi party to celebrate my brother and his wife's birthday and ordered a $120 ish platter from Seafresh Myaree the day before. The sashimi was cut literally within an hour of picking it up and was super fresh.
We even were lucky enough to get 16 slices of chutoro (medium fatty tuna) - our favourite!
Though this doesn't mark our first time at Seafresh Myaree, we're keen to try Seafresh a couple more times and see how it compares to Angelo Seafood - where we usually get our sashimi.
What We Ate π΄
Chicken on Charcoal Flame
Lately on Friday nights we've been doing our pre-meal prep grocery shop before dinner (it's much quieter at the shops on Friday night vs. Saturday). The only issue is sometimes by the time we're done, many of the local dining establishments are closed. That, or they're starting to close their kitchen.
Luckily Chicken on Charcoal Flame is open until 11:30 pm. Not bad for a local place!
This time Paige got the lamb rib platter. Ribs were great, juicy and tender. I got my usual mixed plate which was as good, and consistent, as usual. This visit probably marks our 6th or so visit this year π.
The Cheese Store
On Saturday morning, we braved the wet weather and headed up to The Cheese Shop in Kalamunda, where they held a Raclette Melt.
That ooey gooey cheese goodness!
It made for a great breakfast bite. The raclette cheese was scraped straight onto a fresh baguette which was then topped with pickles and prosciutto.
A balance of salt, fat, acid, texture in a single bite, which made for a delicious bite.
Costco
After raclette, a proper "lunch" was then had at Costco. I grabbed their pepperoni pizza for the first time. It was ok. Probably will still stick too my usual cheese and BBQ pizza slices here. Having said that, we both miss their supreme slices (please bring these back, Costco)!
Not pictured - the chicken tenders with chips (pretty good for the coin) and the classic Costco hotdog with soda.
The shots here are more experimental as I've always wanted to do a close-up macro shot of pizza using the Ricoh GR IIIx.
Yomoo
We ended our Saturday by dropping into the newly rebranded Tien Tien, now known as Yomoo. We've been big fans of Tien Tien in the past. Especially when we're after a sweet treat which isn't bubble tea or gelato.
If you've visited Tien Tien before, then Yomoo's menu will be familiar. Yomoo serve up yoghurt based drinks and have also recently launched a range of mochi yoghurt bowls, the reason for our visit!
Thank you to the kind folks once again over at Bento Box Design Studio for the invite, and Shirley for the hospitality.
We were fortunate to be able to try all four of their mochi yoghurt bowls. My favourite - their strawberry matcha.
Like Yomoo's drinks, each bowl gets the classic "not too sweet" stamp. Most of the sweetness comes from the fruit in each bowl.
The range of fruit in each bowl also adds a nice variety of texture, especially when paired with the chewy hand-made mochi (we'd pay the extra $3 for extra fruit).
Serving size wise, you could probably comfortably share this with someone as the fruits are satiating.
Stay tuned for our post on Yomoo.
