At time of writing, we would've visited two new places as part of food blogger invites. We've got two more invites organised next week, so stay tuned for those.

Last week we checked out:

Uncle Six Nanyang Hawker

β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

The Waffle Slaps

Hand holding pandan waffle

We spoke about The Waffle Slaps sometime last month when we dined at Suzie's Makan Place. Last week we finally were able to try it out!

Close up of pandan waffle

Paige and I shared a Nutella and kaya pandan waffle. It didn't disappoint. Edges were nice and crispy, adding texture to each bite.

It is, however, probably not a combo we'd get again given the richness. Half of the waffle each was enough for us to each get enough of a taste. Next time we'll try the kaya and butter combo 🀩

What We Ate 🍴

Mr King Beef Noodles

During our second visit to Mr King Beef Noodles we tried a couple new dishes.

Top down shot of noodles with mince beef and bok choy
Dry noodle with soybean sauce & minced beef $17.9

The first new dish was their dry noodle with soybean sauce and minced beef. Noodle width on this is fixed. The soybean sauce and slightly wide noodles eventually got a little too rich for our liking, so probably not something we'd order again.

Top down shot of lamb cutlets
Signature lamb cutlets $22.9

Next, the lamb cutlets. These came with a couple condiments on the side to season to your liking. Thinking back, we prefer their lamb skewers over the cutlets.

Hand holding bao with beef
Chinese beef sandwich $8.9

Lastly, the beef burger. This is something I'd grab again. The savoury beef contrasted nicely against the slightly sweet bao.

Suzie's Makan Place

Top down shot of fried mee goreng with cucumber and tomato sauce
Mee goreng $15

Redemption mee goreng! Can never go wrong.

Uncle 6 Nanyang Hawker

Wrapping up a week of eating, we have Uncle 6 Nanyang Hawker. This marked our second visit.

Top down shot of rice with roast pork, parsley and cucumber garnish
Roast pork rice $15.9

We've visited the restaurants previously ran by the owners of Uncle 6 Nanyang Hawker for the past decade. All of them pumped out consistent food, and Uncle 6 Nanyang Hawker is no exception. And all of them, have also been in the exact same spot.

The roast pork rice and ginger scallion steam chicken rice are reminiscent of what we used to have back when it was Sarawak Hawker / 2020 Street Eats.

Ginger scallion steam chicken rice $13.5

The chicken was silky smooth. Personally I probably would've preferred the ginger scallion oil (A.K.A. crack sauce) served on the side, but that's personal preference.

Close up of pan mee with sous vide egg, chilli, spring onions and vegetables
Chilli pan mee $15.9

Paige's pan mee serve was enough to last her two meals.

Close up of teh tarik
Ice teh tarik $6

To date, Uncle 6 Nanyang Hawker serves up one of Paige and I's favourite iced teh tarik. I also had lots of fun composing more "macro" style photos.
