ββThe Best Thing We Ate βοΈ
The Gogi Korean BBQ
π Unit 15/31 Moorhen Dr, Yangebup WA 6164
Without a doubt, the best thing we ate this week was the wagyu from The Gogi Korean BBQ. The platter we ordered featured a handful of different wagyu cuts.
Last Friday's visit marks our second visit to The Gogi Korean BBQ. We can confirm it rivals one of our favourite Korean BBQ restaurants, Northbridge's Marubang in terms of meat quality (wagyu quality anyway).
Marubang in Northbridge has the advantage of being able to order from their downstairs restaurant that specialises in non-BBQ Korean dishes. This would be the reason why we'd still go back to Marubang.
We ordered a side of fried chicken to satisfy my recent Korean fried chicken cravings. Chicken was just as good as the first time.
What We Ate π΄
Jigoro
π Shop 2, Ground Level/100-104 Murray St, Perth WA 6000
We weren't too sure where to dine with some friends last week, so we ended up deciding on Jigoro.
It was my first time trying grilled stingray. Maybe not something I would go out of my way for. Texturally, it was very jerky like. On the side was a generous serve of kewpie mayo (which disappeared pretty quickly).
The spicy karaage wasn't very spicy at all - which was great, as it added some dimension to the otherwise plain-ish chicken karaage.
Cafe Guilty Pleasure
π 1/222 James St, Northbridge WA 6003
Following Jigoro for dinner, we have Cafe Guilty Pleasure for dessert.
We've been here probably at least a couple dozen or two times, so do check out our article for more info.
I didn't try any of the cake, but thoroughly enjoyed my Nutella strawberry croffle. The tartness and texture of the strawberry contrasted well against the croffle and Nutella.
Woo Jeong
π 2 & 3/542 Hay St, Perth WA 6000
Woo Jeong in the city has been on our list for a very long time, but usually we end up dining at Hifumiya when we're in the city π . After the big feed, which was The Gogi Korean BBQ on Friday night, we were after something a bit on the "lighter" side the lunch after.
That's where Woo Jeong's soups metaphorically healed us π. It was the exact thing we were chasing. Paige opted for the yook gae jang while I had the lighter galbi tang.
Both soups come with a side of rice and were filled with a very reasonable amount of protein and veggies. Our first visit will definitely not be our last.
Romulus
π Shop 1/224 Carr Pl, Leederville WA 6007
Wrapping up the week - a first visit to Romulus in Leedy. I dined in as part of a $70 set menu with some friends. The only snap I managed to get on the night was of the gorgonzola & mushroom gnocchi.
Gnocchi? Soft and pillowy. Sauce? Nice and creamy. Texture? Afforded by pork sauace and mushroom. Verdict? I'd eat here again.
Pro tip: park in Secure Parking on Vincent Street for β¨ freeβ¨, yes, free night time and weekend parking.
More deets over on the Secure Parking page.
Absolute random sidenote and totally useless piece of info - I was curious to see who owned Secure Parking, so I went down a bit of a research rabbit hole. Turns out a Japanese company - the PARK24 GROUP, owns Secure Parking in Australia and New Zealand. They also own Times - a car rental and car park company in Japan. Who would've known.
