ββThe Best Thing We Ate βοΈ
el Publico
π 511 Beaufort St, Highgate WA 6003
On Sunday night we were invited to check out el Publico. Thank you to owner and chef David for spoiling us!
Our last here was many years ago. Since then, the venue has come under new management by David - Argentinian raised and Mexican born. David spent years working at el Publico before a stint as the head chef at Berties, before becoming the coming back as the new owner of el Publico.
The best thing we had all week was the carne asada (mixed grill). At $38, it's a steal of a price..On each platter you'll find marinated rump steak, chorizo, pork belly, guac, potato, grilled onions and beans which was enough for two.
Other faves of the night was the ceviche - we enjoyed the cool gazpacho on the bottom that gave the dish a slight savoury, tomato-y element.
Another fave was the carne apache pave - their take on the ubiquitous beef tartare.
What We Ate π΄
De Vina AFS
π Catalano Circuit, Canning Vale Perth, WA, Australia 6155
Back to Tan's Food Court as we were lazy to travel further for food. Pho was alright - probably not something I'd get again. The dish we'd get again from here is their com tam (broken rice).
De Vina's traditional banh mi was also passable, but we'd go across to Phoever and get theirs instead (serving size is more generous).
Sarah's Home Kitchen
π 3/46-48 Catalano Circuit, Canning Vale Perth, WA, Australia 6155
I revisited Tan's Food Court the day after our De Vina visit.
Sarah's Home Kitchen offers both Korean and Japanese cuisine. Their strong point is their kimbap, which had unfortunately sold out by the time we got there (I'm taking this as a good sign).
Our favourite during the visit was their yaki pork gyoza.
Bombay Butler
π 4/46-48 Catalano Circuit, Canning Vale Perth, WA, Australia 6155
Still hungry after a dozen slices of sashimi and some gyoza, I curbed my hunger with Bombay Butler's lamb palak. Reasonable We'll be back to try more from here!
