β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Suzie's Makan Place

πŸ“ 8/280 Bannister Rd, Canning Vale WA 6155

The best thing we ate this week was the curry at Suzie's Makan Place. It was good as ever! We've posted about this place many a time. If we had to pin point our fave here, it's probably the lamb curry. I usually get the $22 special which has a great spread.

What We Ate 🍴

Zypher Lounge

πŸ“ 414 Murray St, Perth WA 6000

Sizzling beef steak served on a hot plate with flames in the background
Japanese A5 Wagyu Striploin (150g) $180 - Mixed mushroom, kombu salt, wasabi, black garlic butter

Zypher Lounge is a new lounge x Japanese dining concept located across from Shafto Lane. Most importantly for us - it's headed by our friend Chef Evan Bang, formerly of Hitomebore, Kukan Izakaya, Nobu and more.

Plated dish of grilled scallops garnished with herbs and seasoning
Hokkaido Scallop $32 - Black garlic butter, jamon crumb, parsnip puree

Yes, you'll find a handful of his old creations and some Nobu staples. Food quality hit the mark and is consistent with what we expect from Chef Evan.

The drinks menu was designed by old friend and colleague Priyant, who heads up Drip By Pri - so you'll find some Nobu inspired drinks here too.

Tea Garden (Vic Park)

πŸ“888 Albany Hwy, East Victoria Park WA 6101

On Friday night we made the mistake of.. dining at Tea Garden in Vic Park. We probably ended up waiting around 1 hour - just to get in. The metaphorical kick in the balls was waiting 1 hour, only to be offered a table which remained uncleared for the entire duration πŸ˜….

It does seem the Tea Garden Vic Park team are still working on some teething / staffing issues / training issues, especially given that Tea Garden Vic Park store has been open only for a short amount of time.

Bowl of crispy noodlesa with chicken and fresh greens
Cantonese style crispy noodle $37.8

To compare against our local Canning Vale branch, we ordered our usual crispy noodles. Luckily, food came out very quickly. The Bopple QR ordering system is also used here, which made ordering effortless.

In terms of taste, it was comparable. Our taste skews towards Canning Vale's version - as our serving's noodles were a tad on the hard (not crispy) side. We do like the new plates this store though.

Our friend Adam ordered nasi lemak with curry chicken. The chicken serving was generous!

So the TL;DR - if you're already SOR, go to the Canning Vale branch of Tea Garden (unless you want to dine in Vic Park specifically).

Yo-Chi (Vic Park)

πŸ“ Shop 1/896 Albany Hwy, Victoria Park WA 6100

After waiting an hour for dinner, we decided to wait another 25 minutes for dessert πŸ˜†. Granted, it was our friend Machi's first time trying froyo, so we figured - why not.

When we got to the front of the line, we were a little saddened to hear that Yo-Chi had run out of chocolate froyo πŸ™. Ah well, there's always next time!

Yo-Chi, if you ever wanna collab, you know where to find us πŸ˜†.

K Town

πŸ“63 Aberdeen St, Northbridge WA 6003

Wrapping up this week we have K Town - which I visited as part of a bucks party.

Korean barbecue with grilled meat on a tabletop grill surrounded by various side dishes
K Town set A $45 - unlimited mixed K Town meat platter, choice of soup, starters and rice

While I'm not a fan of marinated KBBQ meats or all you can eat venues, K Town's $45 ish all you can eat option was reasonable and a good budget option for KBBQ (especially handy for larger groups).

Vibes here were great (despite it being very hot over the weekend) and lively. Bonus points for charcoal BBQ too!
