โโThe Best Thing We Ate โญ๏ธ
The best thing we ate this week were the birria tacos from Al Pastor. Limited serves are available every day, so get in early for these!
The consomme with the birria tacos were *chefs kiss*.
Al Pastor also serve up our favourite fish tacos too. Each taco comes with a generous serve of fish.
We're not too brave when it comes to spice, but we'll probably give their chicken diablo a shot next time, as it'll probably pair well with the cheesy goodness in quesadillas.
What We Ate ๐ด
Simply Life House
Paige managed to discover Simply Life House in Myaree (towards the back), so we visited for lunch on Saturday. Simply Life House can be described as a "cha chaan teng" which is a Hong Kong style cafe. Expect eclectic but delicious dishes here.
Paige opted for their breakfast Set A (until 11 am) which was crazy good value!
I opted for something beefier (no pun intended). It as my first time trying Borsch which reminded me of my parent's ox tail soup. A super hearty soup for sure.
Bibra Lake Lunch Bar
We were in the area for the second week in a row and grabbed banh mi for lunch. From a value perspective, I think you probably get more bang for you buck with their roasted pork belly or traditional BMT options. But having said said, the pork meat ball BMT was simple with the ingredients, which really allowed you to enjoy each individual element.
JMT Kitchen
We were in the city over the weekend and were craving a "pre-lunch-snack", so we decided to pop into JMT Kitchen. You'll also find tteokbokki and Korean fried chicken wings on their menu.
The Korean street dog has half cheese (top) and sausage (bottom).
Oh So Deli!
It was a toss-up between Al Pastor's birria tacos or Oh So Deli's Cubano sandwich for the Best Thing We Ate. We've been craving Cubanos since our visit to Canberra's Selli's (RIP) and of course, after watching Jon Favreau's Chef. Boy oh boy, did the cubano here hit the spot ๐คค. The Reuben was delicious as well - but Artem still serves up our fave Reuben. We inhaled both sandwiches despite only snacking on JMT Kitchen's hot dog half an hour earlier.
Krunchy
To wrap up our Sunday of eating, we swung by Myaree (again) as we were craving sausages. For Korean street dogs, our preference is probably Krunchy due to the different coating options. We're looking forward to returning to Krunchy to try out more of their stuff - especially their tteokbokki!
