β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Mummucc

If you were to ask what our favourite wine bar is in Perth, we'd respond with "Mummucc" in Wembly. This cosy wine bar is run by the same forks behind Monsterella Pizza, located next door. For the uninitiated, Monsterella serves up delicious woodfired pizza and their truffle parpadelle pasta is *chefs kiss*.

Pasta being lifted up by a fork
Campanelle XO Local Scampi Salted Leek Flower Sobrassada Pistachio $30

You know what else was *chefs kiss* though? Their campanelle scampi pasta. It had a little bit of spice which contrasted well against a creamy element and crunchy pistacios. It was the best thing we ate, all week.

Overhead shot of shaved cuttlefish
Shaved Local Cuttlefish Spring Legumes Sorrel Confit Yolk $23

In close second place, their shaved local cuttlefish.

What We Ate 🍴

Fibber McGee's

Overhead shot of dry age rib-eye steak with fries, onion rings, mushrooms and greens
Dry-aged ribeye $65 ish

Writing this is making me hungry again. We popped into Fibber McGees to celebrate a birthday. We also may have over ordered (surprise surprise) for two (unpictured is Paige's fillet steak). Somehow, we managed to finish 95% of the food though!

Close up of sausages, mash, peas and bacon
Homemade Irish pork sausages served with pea mash, bacon with a rich jus $30

Without doubt, we got meat sweats after eating our far share of meat.

Viet Kites

We were in Freo over the weekend and popped into the Freo Markets. It was fairly quiet when we went (around 11:30 am ish) but things started to pick up around 12 pm.

Hand holding a banh mi made with a croissant
Crossiant banh mi $13.5 ish (from memory)

For a quick lunch, we opted for banh mi and Viet Kites. The folks here serve up a croissant banh mi.

Deluxe banh mi $12.5 - grilled pork + roasted pork belly

The fillings were good. Our least favourite part of the banh mi would be the bread. By no means are we pastry chefs or bakers, but we enjoyed the slightly more "hydrated" feeling bread which DJ's Willagee offered up.

Forklore

Top down shot of kimchi fried rice with pork belly and a fried egg
Kimchi fried rice $22.5 - confit & grilled pork belly, caramelised kimchi, mushrooms, edamame, fried egg & spring onions

The last entry this week goes to Forklore. They also have a fairly well stocked selection of Asian influenced pastries too.
