β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Vin Populi

Vin Populi is the latest and greatest restaurant to join the growing food scene in Fremantle. It's also owned by the same couple behind No Mafia and Balthazar - restaurants which we both enjoy.

πŸ‘ Roast Lamb (800g) $72

The highlight of our visit was this chonky 800g lamb. And yes. We did end up finishing it. Between the two of us πŸ˜….

Bonus brownie points to the team for accomodating us as a walk in on Sunday.

What We Ate 🍴

Lum's Wine Bar

Last week, I (Eddy) tagged along with @leenthefoodie last week check out Lum's Wine Bar's new menu. Thanks for the folks at Lums Wine Bar and Studio Appetite for having me! Post comes out on Sunday, be sure to check it out.

Top down shot of burrata with tomato salad
Burrata $24 - tomato salad, fig & green raisin

Tosaka Ramen

πŸ–€ Black garlic with cha-shu tori paitan $26.5 - dark garlic flavour, pork belly cha-shu, chicken cha-shu, spring onion, onion & green veg (+soft boil egg $2.5)

If we were asked what our favourite ramen place is, it's probably Tosaka Ramen. Tosaka exclusively serve up a chicken broth ramen (tori paitan). The broths here run creamy and rich, but not to the level of tonkotsu (pork bone ramen).

🍜 White w cha-shu tori paitan $23 - pork belly cha-shu, chicken cha-shu, spring onion, onion & green veg

It always perpetually has a line too, so that's always a good sign (super handy for nights where we have nothing planned..).

Dining Akashi

Top down shot of teishoku - edamame, rice, tempura, karaage and cooked slice beef
πŸ₯© Osawa wagyu beef teriyaki set $32 - thinly sliced wagyu beef, onsen egg, yuzu pepper, chicken kara-age, vegetable tempura, steamed rice, miso soup & edamame

Japanese food, two meals in a row? Why not!

πŸ”₯ Aburi chirashi set $26 - seared sashimi on sushi rice, chicken kara-age, vegetable tempura, iso soup & edamame

If you haven't been - Dining Akashi is a tempura specialty restaurant which also serve up omakase in the evenings. Pricing here is very reasonable for what you get.

Chopsticks

Vietnamese dishes I normally rotate through - pho, com tam and bo luc lac. Serving's on the generous side!

Top down shot of Vietnamese shaking beef with soup and rock salt on the side
🍚 Com chien bo luc lac $22 - shaking beef fried rice
