Charcoal chicken!

WEEKLY DIGEST 059 | 07 APR 2023

If you tuned in last week, you'll know Paige and I have worked through a pretty gnarly flu. Sadly enough, my sense of smell has momentarily disappeared (making eating a little less than enjoyable). And no, it wasn't not Dominic Toretto's favourite beer (A.K.A. rona).

โ€Œโ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate โญ๏ธ

On Fire Charcoal Chicken

Top down shot of chips, fatoush salad, chicken, rice and Lebanese bread
On fire deal $45 - One whole juicy charcoal chicken topped with lebanese bread, served with salad of choice, rice, chips, 1.25lt soft drink and a famous in house garlic side dipping sauce

Over the past 26 weeks or so, I've been dieting in order to meet some gym and body goals. For the greater part of 4 years or so, I've been training under my coach, Brian (check him out here). The end of last week left me super hungry and craving a massive feed. Charcoal chicken specifically.

Our go to is Little Lebanon, in Osbourne Park. But there are times when we're not willing to travel for food. This, being one of them.

Both Paige and I have driven past On Fire Charcoal Chicken in Como for sometime now, so we decided to check it out. Thanks for @leenthefoodie for the recommendation as well!

Serving sizes were massive. I preface that statement with "I'm a relatively large eater" as well ๐Ÿ˜‚. With the sides included, their On fire deal can easily feed 3 - 4. Chicken was great too!

What We Ate ๐Ÿด

Bagel O's Delicatessen

P.E.C. $18 - house smoked pastrami, plain C/C, soft egg & American cheese & โ€Œ โ€ŒBMC $16 - buttermilk braised chicken, smashed avo, pesto, tomato, sprouts & iceberg

Third time lucky. We finally were able to make it to Bagel O's before they sold out of bagels (a good problem to have, I suppose).

Bunmee Pho

Close up of pho in a bowl
Pho 4 you $16.5 - hofan, raw beef and beef balls

We're glad to discover more Vietnamese places south of the river. The pho at Bunmee Pho reminds me of my parents' pho - light and clean. The type of broth that you can drink all of.

Hifumiya

Top down shot of udon
Pork kimchi bukkake (large) $15.8

Over the weekend, I took a work colleague, Minh, who was in town to Hifumiya. Minh does lots of cool music stuff. Check out her work below!

A staple Perth CBD favourite is Hifumiya. Free (weekend) parking at CPP next door seals the deal. The udon for the day was the pork kimchi bukkake udon. You probably could've predicted that by now!

If you haven't already, check our article on Hifumiya for more info.

Hifumiya (Perth)
Perthโ€™s only specialty udon store that also aspires for its customersโ€™ to experience and develop an interest in Japanese culture.
