β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Belin

Tartare di Manzo $25 - beef tartare, stracchino Italian cheese, handmade Genoese style pesto & focaccia bread crouton

It's been nearly two years since we last visited Belin, one of our all time favourite Italian restaurants.

Close up of steak fillet with vegetables
Filetto ai funghi e spinaci $45 - eye fillet medium-rare served with sautΓ©ed spinach, pine nuts, raisin, potatoes with porcini mushroom red wine sauce $45

We rate Belin as a place "worth the drive". The spiels that owner, Freddie Β gives you when running the food, are romantic. Each time we're blown away with the passion and love that not goes into the spieling, but the food as well.

Can't wait to go back!

What We Ate 🍴

On Fire Charcoal Chicken

Top down shot of chicken, pita bread, rice, salad and chips in a round circular bowl
πŸ₯ On fire deal $45 - One whole juicy charcoal chicken topped with lebanese bread, served with salad of choice, rice, chips, 1.25lt soft drink and a famous in house garlic side dipping sauce

A big feed on ANZAC Day night!

Kou Sushi

Chopsticks picking up pieces of karaage chicken
Chicken karaage $10 - fried chicken with lemon and mayo

We've probably been to Kou Sushi around a dozen times now. Still good as ever.

Close up of aburi sashimi in a rice bowl, topped with dark sauce
Aburi Don $24 - grilled fish (salmon, tuna, prawn & scallop), avocado, lemon, omelet, fish roe, spring onion, onion, snowpea & seaweed

Aburi don is probably the dish to get.

Top down shot of salad and diced salmon in a round bowl
Salmon with spicy sauce $20 - fresh salmon, rice, carrot, snow pea, cucumber, avocado, cabbage, spring onion, onion, mix lettuce, sesame oil & spicy sauce

A friend of mine got the salmon with spicy sauce - the presentation was reminiscent off yee sang in a way.

Kou Sushi (Rivervale)
A suburban Japanese restaurant that has quickly become a new favourite of ours offering well executed and plated dishes with generous servings.

Camelia Cafe

Close up of matcha cake with lychee
🍡 Matcha lychee cake $8.5

One of the many Korean dessert cafes you'll find in the city.

Slowdough Pizza

Top down, close up shot of pizza with various toppings
The Bull $24 - tomato base, fior di latte, red onion, chorizo, roast capsicum, olives & vegan pesto
Top down, close up shot of pizza with various toppings
Spicy Life $23 - tomato base, fior di latte, cacciatore, mushrooms, caramelized onion, chili flakes & basil

Sourdough bases make for a pizza which travels well, meaning it's super takeaway friendly. They also make for pizzas that are gluten friendly.

Jawhara

Top down shot of saffron rice, salad, hummuss and two lamb skewers
Lamb Kofta $28.5 - two skewers of finely seasoned hand ground lamb, grilled tomato, chilli pepper & salad served with saffron rice

A new discovery this week was Jawhara. We rated it!
