Nobu

Close up of salmon belly sashimi with crispy leeks piled on top and orange coloured sauce
Salmon belly chocolate karashi su miso $32

We dropped into Nobu last Friday for dinner with some close friends (we all used to work there together, back in the day!). It was great to reminisce and enjoy some dishes not often replicated at other "modern Japanese" restaurants throughout Perth.

Ama ebi dry miso $30

If you've got a visit planned, we highly recommend the salmon belly chocolate karashi su miso and the ama ebi dry miso. You'll be hard pressed to find them anywhere else in Perth.

Pork taco $10pp

The tacos, although pricey, are delicious!

Unbroken lava cake, ice-cream, fruit compote and a circular chocolate with NOBU written on it
Lava cake $22

And before you think "Eddy, is that all you ate?", well, no. Between the 6 of us, we shared around 16 dishes (excluding dessert). Which brings us to dessert. My favourite is the lava cake (a delicious hot and cold and sweet and tart juxtapose) while Paige is the miso cappuccino (these never get old).

Over the past couple of years, we've probably dined at Nobu over a dozen times. Would anyone be interested in an "insiders guide to ordering at Nobu?" Let us know in comments!

Can you tell we like Japanese food?

We've updated our Kou Sushi post to include their latest menu.

Kou Sushi (Rivervale)
A suburban Japanese restaurant that has quickly become a new favourite of ours offering well executed and plated dishes with generous servings.

Run Amuk

Hot dog with pickles, sauerkraut, mustard, chives and cheese
Reuben $18 - Premium bratwurst, russian dressing, maasdam cheese, sauerkraut, Run Amuk house pickles, pastrami, American mustard, chilli flakes, fresh dill

We've missed the hot dogs here! Run Amuk also have a beautiful new, super photorealistic mural inside. Look for the team in it!

Hot dog with hashbrown, mayo and chives
Hair of the dog $16 - Premium bratwurst, scrambled egg, cheddar, bacon, hash brown, hollandaise, tomato Sauce, chives

Monsterella Pizza

Top down shot of parpadelle pasta with shaved cheese
HAND CUT TRUFFLED PAPPARDELLE CARBONARA $29

Last but not least - delicious pasta and pizza to finish our week off. You can never go wrong with Monsterella's hand cut truffled pappardelle 🀩.

Top down shot of pizza with sausage meat and cheese
HUNTER $26 - FIOR DI LATTE, SALAMI, PROSCIUTTO, ITALIAN SAUSAGE AND SMOKED MOZZARELLA

We've been big time fans of Monsterella for years. It's probably been over a year since our last visit here. The pizza this time didn't really hit the spot. Maybe it's our tastes evolving πŸ€”?

Pizza Mates and Rossonero probably are our favourites right now.
