The Best Thing We Ate ⭐️
Hermanos en Cantina
The last time I was at Hermanos en Cantina was all the way back in 2021! It certainly didn't disappoint when we went last week. Pricing for what we got, was very reasonable. Can't wait to go back!
Sadly, my cut has started, so I'll have to carve up some calories to fit their delicious nachos in 🤩.
What We Ate 🍴
Harvest Boulangerie
Being located south of the river, the drive up to Harvest Boulangerie is a bit of a trek. Luckily, we were in the area last week and finally were able to grab a couple treats!
The favourite was the choux pastry-like Paris brest, followed by the tarty creme brulee danish.
In last place, was their foccacia which we found ran a little on the salty side.
Rym Tarng
Peak week dinner (A.K.A. Friday night dinner) was at Rym Tarng, a popular and relatively new Thai diner. Some of our faves of the evening were the pork and prawn donuts and the beef salad.
Texturally, the pork and prawn donut was like a cross between a fried dumpling (the ones you get at dim sum) and fishballs. It worked well with the sweet plum sauce.
The Angus beef salad was a flavour blast in our mouth and packed some punch 🌶️. On a cold night, it left my head a little sweaty from the heat!
Rym Tarng is tiny, so we definitely recommend you book in advance. Inside and outside, the restaurant probably seats around a dozen or so.
Bobaboba (Cockburn)
Bobaboba opened up their first branch south of the river last week. It's a beautiful store! Check out our article for more deets.
Phoever (Canning Vale)
A couple weeks back, Phoever quietly launched their new banh mi stall. I'm super happy that they've launched this, as they serve up decent banh mi for the money. Speaking of that - most banh mi here can be had for under $10.
The roast pork was crunchy and fatty. Bread held shape well and wasn't overly crunchy. My only feedback point is that it's missing something to cut through the fatty roast pork goodness (or, a more even 50 / 50 split of lean to fatty roast pork meat).
Feedback aside, Phoever's banh mi will likely save me the drive to DJ's Lunch Bar in Willagee or Bibra Lake Lunch Bar.
They're open everyday (except Tuesdays) until 1 pm. Be sure to give them a shot!
Silver Sushi
We finished up the week with a "three course dinner". The evening started off at Hansik, previously a favourite Korean restaurant of ours. Recently, it seems like they've had to slim down their menu considerably, which made us a little sad and a little reluctant to recommend or return to Hansik. Many items were "sold out" on the ordering app. Hopefully, we see the return of their full menu.
We left Hansik feeling appetised - from some jajangmyeon, fried chicken and kimchi pancake. Round two involved a bunch of things to share at Silver Sushi (where we miraculously got a table at).
Momo Dessert Cafe
After inhaling a bunch of Japanese food at Silver Sushi, we finally rolled into our final destination, literally two doors down. To date, Momo Dessert Cafe satisfies the majority of our Korean dessert cravings.
In addition to the grape shaved ice, we also grabbed a strawberry shaved ice. Both flavours complemented each other nicely.
