β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Indigo Oscar

Last Friday, we initially planned to dine at a new Japanese restaurant that commanded a fairly pretty penny by most standards. Some strong, less than amazing feedback from a food friend was enough to postpone our visit. Hopefully this intimate restaurant improves when we do eventually visit.

We managed to land a table at Indigo Oscar, after scrambling to decide where to spend our Friday night with four other friends.

Close up of tuna tostada
Yellowfin tuna tostada, avocado & sesame $7

Between now and the end of August, Indigo Oscar are offering a fortnightly ish changing menu bringing your tastebuds through six South American countries. The lineup sounds pretty amazing, so we'll likely be back 🀩.

Close up of oyster mushroom taco
Oyster mushroom taco, crema, hot sauce & coriander $8

Indigo Oscar's been one of our favourite places to eat in Perth. Since Indigo Oscar opened up in late 2021, we've been around half a dozen times and can't fault any of our visits.

The best thing we ate this week? It's hard to decide. If we had to pinpoint an exact favourite, it'd probably be the tacos or the tuna tostada.

Grass-fed O'Connor scotch fillet, salsa macha & pepita $58

What We Ate 🍴

Bull Creek Hawker

We've said before and we'll say it again. We're super grateful to be located around a plethora of food options, especially South East Asian ones.

Top down shot of fried hofun in egg sauce
Fried horfun in egg sauce $14.5

An all time favourite comfort dish of mine is horfun in egg sauce (wat tan horfun).

Close up of wonton noodles with BBQ pork and a bowl of wonton in the back
Wonton noodle with BBQ pork (dry) $13

Paige opted for a lighter, wonton noodle.

Authentic Bites

Top down shot of braised beef noodle soup
Braised beef noodle soup $16.5

Now, being well and truly winter means it's perfect soup weather. I've been craving braised beef brisket soup for a while and Authentic Bites' satisifed said cravings.

Chopsticks holding a xiao long bao over a soup spoon
Steamed juicy crab & pork xiao long bao (8pc) $15.5

It's also been some time since we've had xiao long bao. These hit the spot.

Hand holding a salted egg custard bun split open showing the oozing salted egg custard
Salty egg custard buns (2pc) $7

For sweets, we stayed at Authentic Bites and enjoyed their salty egg custard buns and fried Chinese buns with condensed milk (mantou). A must try if you've never had either!

Fried mantou with condensed milk in a ramekin
Fried Chinese bun with condensed milk $8.5
