β€Œβ€ŒThe Best Thing We Ate ⭐️

Gelato Messina

You might've seen our post on Instagram already, by the time this newsletter is out.

Two scoops $9.5 - dulce de leche & chocolate fondant

TL;DR, we reckon the hype of Gelato Messina lives up to it. Lots of fun flavours on their menu. Check out Paige's post over on Instagram for more.

What We Ate 🍴

Atrium

Paige's family took us out to celebrate both our recent trips around the sun, by going to Atrium. If My Fitness Pal is correct, I probably logged around 3,000 calories over dinner πŸ˜‚. I'm currently back on a bulk, so this buffet made me very happy last week (so happy with the food, I woke up a kilo or two heavier πŸ™ˆ).

The bill ended up being $95pp with festive pricing.

Cairo Cafe

Top down shot of mince lamb with hommus, garlic dip, Lebanese bread, salad and biriyani rice
Lahm shwarma $24.9 - shredded lamb marinated in spices with hommus, garlic dip, Lebanese bread, salad and oriental rice

A local Middle Eastern restaurant that is not too far from us. Delicious food with decent portions!

Top down shot of grilled chicken with hommus, garlic dip, Lebanese bread, salad and biriyani rice
Half chicken platter $24.9 - half chicken with hommus, garlic dip, Lebanese bread, salad and oriental rice

Guzman y Gomez

Hand holding soft serve with a churro served in a plastic Guzman y Gomez cup
Churro sundae with chocolate sauce $5.5

Across the road from our local Cairo Cafe is a newly opened Guzman y Gomez. Not sponsored (though we're open to working with you, GYG!), when it comes to casual dining (a.k.a. fancy fast food), GYG ranks at the top of our list. Anywho - we were craving something sweet and remembered they did soft serve, something you can't really go wrong with.

GYG's churro sundae's serving size is pretty generous and can easily be shared between two as soft serve can get pretty rich. The cherry on top was the yummy churro (ok, maybe I've been craving churros / something cinnamon sugary lately too).

Pinchos de Tapas

Gazpacho $13.9 - cherry tomatoes, grilled capsicums, cucumber, Px onions, croutons, basil + piquillo cream

One of the few Spanish restaurants open on a Sunday! My last visit here was probably 8+ years ago.

Top down shot of ceviche
Ceviche $21.5 - lime and chilli marinated cured fish, coconut milk & mango

Tommasino's

Our second visit to Tommasino's was equally as delicious as our first visit. Dishes here we feel ran a little on the petite side, but pricing is reasonably reflective of this.

Lasagna norcina $25 - lasagna sheets with fresh Italian sausage, mixed forest mushrooms, pecorino and black truffle sauce

The lasagne and the pinsa (yes pinsa, not pizza) were the faves of the night.

Close up shot of pizza with cheese and mixed mushrooms
Umbra $22 - fresh ricotta, porcini & mixed forest mushrooms, fio di latte La Delizia mozzarella cheese, truffle sauce and grana padano parmesan
