WEEKLY DIGEST | FEB 15
This week is a mix of western and eastern The best thing we ate this week was Pietro Gelateria's peach & passionfruit and riccota and orange & dark chocolate gelato.
Weekly Digest is our weekly newsletter where we revisit what we ate over the past week.
We've been on a roll checking out a bunch of wine bars as of recent. To the point that we've grown a little bored of the style of food served (yes a bit of a #FirstWorldProblem, we know). If anyone has any places worth checking out, do let us know! I'm sure we aren't the only ones out there that get overwhelmed when deciding where to eat out!
Anywho, this week we have:
π¦ Pietro Gelateria
π Sundays Everyday
π· Si Paradiso

Pietro Gelateria
We missed out Pietro's Summer Cocktail series of flavours which was available until late last month. Luckily, one of the flavours - Β peach & passionfruit, was available when we visited last week. We paired it with a scoop of their ricotta, orange & dark chocolate gelato which worked great.
For those north of the river, Pietro Gelateria has also opened up a new store in Inglewood (near Inglewood Woolies) late last year.
π΄ What We Ate
Sundays Everyday
Hulme Court in Myaree has a diverse range of southeast Asian cuisine such as Japanese, Malaysian and Chinese. A number of bubble tea stores are sandwiched between the myriad of choices (fun fact: Hulme Court is, and continues to be, one of the OG car meet spots, particularly for those who have an interest in JDM cars).
Ironically open everyday but Sunday, Sundays Everyday serves up a range of Japanese favourites at a friendly price point. They're also one of the few Japanese places in Perth that serves hamburg steak (hamburger steak). Diners can expect a slight discount when ordering the dishes for take away.
Si Paradiso
We visited for an early Valentine's Day dinner and enjoyed the wide spread of food on the menu.
Loved the dark and Β "moody" interior and decor.
Hinata Cafe
γζ₯εγor "hinata" is the Japanese word for "a sunny place". Hinata Cafe is the sister store of Coccolicco in Freo. The food served is a Japanese style brunch and reminds us of Muji cafe food (Cafe&Meal) available at Muji stores throughout Asia.
Set meals are typically served at Hinata Cafe. Diners have a choice of the HINATA brunch set or their summer fresh set (a lighter meal), while on the weekend, pork katsu sando and Japanese pancakes are available.
Be sure to look out for our post on Hinata Cafe later this week.
Nieuw Ruin
You're probably as curious as we are to the etymology behind the name "Nieuw Ruin". A quick Google reveals it's a portmanteau of the Dutch word "nieuw jenever" (new-style Dutch gin" and "mothers ruin" - old English slang for gin.
The small bar is housed in a 150 year old venue and in addition to serving gin, features an extensive wine collection. The pass is manned by chef Blaze Young (ex-Propeller, Billie H and Madelena's).
