βοΈ The Best Thing We Ate
Nao Ramen
Established in 2003, Nao Ramen is arguably one of the OG ramen stores in Perth. Their menu features a number of different ramen broths such as shoyu (soy), miso, shio (salt).
We've been coming here for 12 years. In 2017, they moved to the upper end of the Equus Arcade, near Jaws Sushi. Previously, Nao Ramen was located towards the bottom of the arcade on the Murray Street side in a much smaller venue.
Our go-to order is usually their shoyu ramen or their miso ramen. Four different types of noodles are available (white, green, red and black) and a number of extra toppings are also available.
We suggest adding toppings such as extra noodles or extra chashu for those with bigger appetites. Alternatively, menu items from Nao Ramen's sister store, Nao Curry are also available for order. Nao's curry is made from scratch, with their roux being made from various spices and vegetables.
Note Nao do not take reservations and is strictly walk-in only. All members of your group are required to be present before being shown your table.
π΄ What We Ate
Dandelion
We were invited to the launch of Dandelion last week. Dandelion is Karrinyup Centre's newest kitchen, bar and distillery (all housed in a two story venue). Diners can find a range of Asian inspired dishes in addition to wok and wood fired dishesπ₯. The ground floor also features a small micro-distillery where Dandelion serves up in-house distilled vodka and gin.
Thank you to Laura, Studio Appetite and the Dandelion team for having us!
Dandelion is led by John Parker (The Standard / The Royal / Willis / Fleur), executive chef Chase Weber (The Standard / The Royal / Willis / Fleur) and venue manager Patty Karspzak (ex-The Standard).
Beautiful custom furniture and joinery by Ergoline Commercial Furniture.
The venue overlooks the beautiful West Deck dining precinct in the newly revamped Karrinyup Centre.
Kailis Bros Leederville
Last week, Kailis Bros served up lobster rolls on their lunch menu as a weekly special. Caviar was available for an extra $10.
We started off with their salt and pepper squid.
The lobster roll came with a very generous side of fries.
While we enjoyed the lobster roll at Kailis, our favourite lobster rolls would still be at The Lobster Pier.
Kailis Bros also sells a fresh range of seafood in their fish market located next door. We picked up some salmon sashimi Β ($69.95 / kg) and kingfish sashimi ($74.95 / kg) and made kaisen don (seafood bowl) for lunch.
Pietro Gelateria
After having Nao Ramen for dinner, we swung by Pietro Gelateria (Vic Park) for something sweet.
We've really been enjoying their ricotta, orange & dark chocolate gelato. So much so, it's probably our 3rd time this month having it π..
Louder Louder
I (Eddy) dined at Louder Louder over the weekend. The restaurant itself is a fairly inconspicuous Thai restaurant, located in Northbridge.
The favourites were their signature mussamun beef rib curry and their signature Slow-Cooked Pork Knuckle.
