WEEKLY DIGEST | APR 5
We visit a new suburban Japanese restaurant which has made it onto our list of favourites.
Weekly Digest is our weekly newsletter where we revisit what we ate over the past week.
Where did the time go? With a blink of an eye, 90+ days of the year have passed! Last week we visited one of our favourite finds all year so far - Kou Sushi. We also made our first gold coin from Google Ads π! Thank you to those who put up with the (slightly) intrusive ads.
This week we have:
Kou Sushi
2020 Street Eats
Cherry & Grapes
Home cooking!
Singapore πΈπ¬
We're going to Singapore in a couple weeks! We found a couple cheap flights on one my favourite sites, OzBargain. Our last visit was in 2019. We'd love to get your suggestions on food or things to do, so shoot us a DM or email if you have recommendations!
Website Updates β¨
For those new here, we aim to upload an article on the website for each Instagram post we upload. We wrote a bunch of articles over the last week, many of which are featured in February 2022's edition of Ate It & Rate It, covering all of our faves from February.
We're proudest of the Cafe Guilty Pleasure and Kukan Izakaya articles as they feature photos over 2+ years of visits and are our longest articles so far. Be sure to show them some love.
If you have any new fantastic food finds, we'd love you to let us know via DM or email. If you have different opinions to us on food, that's fine - let us know too! We love to chat all things food.

The Best Thing We Ate βοΈ
Last week we made our first visit to Kou Sushi, a Japanese restaurant located in Riverdale. Kou Sushi served up the best thing we ate last week - their prawn cream curry don.
The curry sauce has a slightly thinner consistency and had a unique, almost chocolate like taste from it from the caramelised onions. This is hands down one of my favourite bowls of Japanese curry I've had in Perth.
Paige ordered the aburi don - which was a very generous serve! Keep your eyes peeled for the post later this week.
What We Ate π΄
2020 Street Eats
We had a lazy Saturday and ordered take-away from 2020 Street Eats, one of our local go-to places. 2020 Street Eats serve up a number of Malaysian dishes. Photos are (coincidentally) from 2020 (no pun was intended here, I promise π )
Cherry & Grapes
Cherry & Grape have started trading on Sundays as of April 2022. Though we don't have brunch as much as we used to, Cherry & Grapes rank at the top end of our brunch list. We love their kimchi risotto and their fluffy souffle pancakes (read more here).
I visited with some friends and tried out their weekly special - a steak katsu with a slow cooked blue swimmer crab miso soup.
Steak katsu isn't as commonly found compared to chicken or pork katsu. All the elements worked well. If I were to order this again, I'd order this with rice as I felt the dish needed something to soak up the tonkatsu sauce. Looking forward to other specials Cherry & Grape have to offer!
Home Cooking
For dinner on Sunday - we made a beef steak don (pictured is my large serving π ). Photo was taken from my phone, straight out of the camera. Rice is Niigata koshihikari rice from Costco, veggies and scotch fillet from our local Woolies and sous vide eggs are courtesy of our Anova Sous Vide Precision Cooker.
