Madalenas Bar

If you're a seafood fanatic, Madalena's in Freo is the place to go. Madalenas has recently turned their upstairs level to a walk-in bar, serving a different, bar focused menu.

🍀 Rowley Shoals ama ebi ceviche, longan & avocado $22

We dined downstairs in their restaurant. The eat of the week goes to their Rowley Shaols ama ebi ceviche. We loved this Peruvian Japanese, almost Nobu like creation.

What We Ate 🍴

Rossonero Pizzeria

We didn't have any Friday night plans, so we made the 25 min drive up to Rossonero in Maylands. The order was exactly what we got last time. Two of "The Kings" .

Well worth the drive!

Hand picking up a slice of pizza with pepperoni, cheese and potato
πŸ‘‘ The King $19 - cacciatore, crushed potatoes, mozzarella, caramelised onions, rosemary & cream base

Click here to learn more about Rossonero.

Dessert Garden

Following dinner at Rossonero, we popped by Dessert Garden to try their fresh lemon aiyu jelly crushed ice. Needless to say, it was a bit on the cold side to be having a crushed ice dessert, but it refreshing and reminded us of lemon tea. We've heard this has made a permanent spot on Dessert Garden's menu now, so we're looking forward to having this during the warmer months!

Hand pouring condensed milk from a ramakin ontop of a shaved ice dessert
πŸ“ Strawberry Snowflake Ice $17.8

Paige was craving something strawberry - so we settled with the strawberry snowflake ice.

Two Freo finds and three city finds.

Costco

The plan over the weekend was drop by Costco for a couple things, grab lunch there and fill up (#RIPFuelPrices). For lunch, pizza, hotdogs and the seasonal clam chowder was on the list.

Overhead shot of a big slice of cheese pizza
πŸ§€ Cheese pizza slice $2.99

We love the huge, glorious slabs of pizza at Costco. Each slice easily accounts for two slices of normal pizza. The base is on the thicker side though. Our favourite slices are their supreme and cheese pizzas.

πŸ§… Supreme pizza slice $2.99
Overhead shot of hand holding a bread bun filled with chowder
πŸ¦ͺ Clam Chowder Soup $6.99

Be sure to try their clam chowder soup which makes for a great winter warmer. Not bad for the price. We found this better than last year's version.

Kawa Kebabs

πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡· Tasty lamb gozleme $13

One of the things I miss eating most on a regular, is gozeleme. During my uni days, I'd frequent Foodway in Broadway for gozleme. I curbed the craving I had for gozleme by popping into a local kebab shop on the weekend.

May Street Larder

🐟 House smoked salmon pave $23 - Crispy potato pave with house smoked salmon, cream fraiche, watercress & fennel salad and citrus infused olived oil

Wrapping up a week of eating we have May Street Larder. Our favourite was the lamb.

πŸ‘ Lamb musabaha $21 - marinated lamb rump, black garlic hummus, wood fired herb flat bread & pomegrante salad
